“I would strengthen all of our current laws that prevent abortion,” Mr. Cain said Saturday night. “I believe that abortion should be clearly stated and illegal across this country.”

Mr. Cain, who has become a leading Republican presidential contender in several national and state polls, stirred controversy last week when he told an interviewer on CNN that he opposed abortion but did not believe that it was his role to impose his views on others. His comments drew a sharp rebuke from several of his rivals (link).
